Song studied organic chemistry and obtained his M.Sc. under the supervision of Prof. Bin Tan and Prof. Shaoyu Li at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) in China. He then developed an interest in chemical biology, which led him to spend two years in Lausanne. In October 2024, he started his Ph.D. at FMP with JB to investigate deuterated photoswitched probes.
