My interdisciplinary scientific journey begins with a Bachelor in Liberal Arts and Sciences at Maastricht University in the Netherlands. Afterwards, I moved to Saarbruecken to work as a technical assistant at the interface of medicinal chemistry and biochemistry for around 1 year. Out of a fascination for analytical chemistry and spectroscopy, I continued my education as part of the Erasmus Mundus JOINT Master's in 'Advanced Spetroscopy in Chemistry (ASC)', studying a multidisciplinary set of tools in Lille (France), Leipzig (Germany) and Krakow (Poland). As a PhD student in the AG Milles I am now trying to apply my background in spectroscopy and (bio-)chemistry to help to elucidate the role and function of intrinsically disordered proteins in clathrin-mediated endocytosis. In particular, I will be working in close collaboration with Dr. Johannes Broichhagen on a quest to enhance our spectroscopy with novel (fluorophore-) chemistry.
