Chiara comes from Milan, where she completed her bachelor’s degree in chemistry at Università Statale. Seeking a change, she moved to Berlin for her master’s at Freie Universität. During this time, she explored different areas of chemistry through internships at the Max Planck Institute in Potsdam, where she fell in love with the lab work, and at Freie Universität, where she gained valuable experience in inorganic chemistry. However, her passion for organic chemistry—especially its biological and medical applications—led her to join the Hackenberger Lab for her master’s thesis. She liked it there, and decided to stick around for a PhD. Now, she focuses on the conjugation of peptides and oligonucleotides to electrophilic scaffolds. In her free time, Chiara practices capoeira, bikes around when the Berlin weather allows it, and spends countless hours listening to music and podcasts.
