Mariona is originally from Barcelona, where she studied Biotechnology. To finalise her Bachelor's degree, she visited Berlin for the first time to complete a thesis internship at Humboldt Universität. She later explored research into neurodegenerative diseases as a graduate fellow at the University of Barcelona. Moving further north to Stockholm, she completed her Master's in Medical Biotechnology at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, specialising in synthetic biology and protein synthesis during her thesis work at Karolinska Institutet. In September 2024, she joined the Hackenberger Lab as a PhD candidate within the MSCA Tau Doctoral Network. Her research focuses on optimising the delivery of tau nanobodies into neurons and studying their potential therapeutic applications. Outside the lab, Mariona enjoys ballet, bouldering, and long walks in the city on sunny days.
