Kerem studied biotechnology at the Technical University of Berlin with focus on medical biotechnology. For his Master thesis, he joined the group of Prof. Dr. Juri Rappsilber in Berlin, where he worked on intensity-based FDR rescoring of cross-linking data. After graduating in 2020, he decided to combine his previously acquired skills in cell biology with his mass spectrometry knowledge and started his PhD at the FMP in an integrative project, working on mapping the protein landscape of mitochondria together with the cellular imaging facility of Dr. Martin Lehmann and the mass spectrometry facility of Prof. Dr. Fan Liu.
