Scientific Training

The FMP graduate school offers a range of courses from which first-year PhD students can set up a personal training plan. The aim is to give every PhD student a broad view on pharmacological research and to show which tools are there for which purpose that allow to foster their own research in the best possible way.

Each graduate student is required to attend the beginner courses of the two sections to which he or she does not belong. These courses provide a basic introduction to the respective scientific area. In addition, PhD students choose three methods courses to participate in to learn about the different methods used at the FMP and possibly use them for their own research.

Method courses currently offered:

  • Cryo-EM
  • Cell Culture and FACS
  • NMR spectroscopy of small molecules
  • Molecular Modelling
  • Microscopy
  • Mass spectrometry and proteomics
  • Electrophysiology
  • Medicinal Chemistry
  • Basics of Electron Microscopy

In addition, our doctoral students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of seminars. These seminars include:

  • Marthe-Vogt seminars
  • Friday seminars
  • Seminars of the sections
  • Group meetings

Every PhD student has to give a Friday seminar towards the end of his PhD thesis.
