Dmytro studierte Biologie an der Kyiv National University. Er promovierte an der Universität Hamburg im Labor von Dr. Melita Schachner-Camartin und hat einen Hintergrund in Neurowissenschaften, Zellbiologie und Transmissionselektronenmikroskopie. Derzeit arbeitet er zusätzlich zu TEM-Anwendungen an SEM- und FIB-SEM-Anwendungen für verschiedene zellbiologische Projekte.
